Women in Technology: Meet Brittany

Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Brittany: I heard about Dataprise through one of my husband’s friends. I remember being nervous because I had no experience in the technology industry, but I knew I was eager to learn more, so I applied. Most of my experience is in the hospitality industry, but I have found I am still able to apply those skills in my current job at Dataprise. And I continue to learn new things daily!

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Brittany: I did not know that working in the technology industry was what I wanted to do. I knew the technology industry was huge and continuously changing, so I did have a special interest in it. I was unsure of how I could get into this industry, and I am very glad I was able to! There are endless opportunities to explore and I’m happy to see where my career in technology takes me.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Brittany: Just about 5 months.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Brittany: My position at Dataprise is Service Delivery Coordinator. A typical day for me looks like scheduling visits for our technical staff that provides onsite support to our clients, adding service requests to their calendars, communicating status updates to clients and our technical staff, managing time-off requests, ensuring we are meeting our service level agreements with our clients, addressing any concerns or questions from clients/staff and handling any unplanned emergencies. I’m a bit of a wizard behind the curtain!

Marissa: What advice would you give to women considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Brittany: Have faith in yourself! Even if you don’t have much technology experience, do not be discouraged, you can still apply and have a chance of working in this industry. There so many amazing opportunities within this field and there is something for everyone! Never be afraid to voice your opinion because it does matters.

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Brittany: Knowing I am capable! I feel heard at Dataprise and feel that I can voice my opinion. I hope this encourages more woman to come join Dataprise and to not be afraid! Women deserve to have an equal chance in this industry and are just as competent.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Brittany: I love being able to work with many different departments, clients, and employees. I truly feel that we all act as a team and I enjoy getting to know everyone!

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Brittany: I am unsure of where I see myself going, the opportunities are truly endless! Right now, I am really enjoying the scheduling aspect of my job. I hope to continue to grow and learn new things daily, so I can continue to develop. I am excited to see where I end up in the future!
