Namrata: The clearest memory of me connecting to technology was when I was in my computer class in middle-school and we were being taught the Logo programming language. As a child, I obviously did not know what was actually happening to make the images form, but it made me feel ecstatic andI felt as if this was something I could do when I grow up. Afterwards, my school and college years had been interwoven with computers and by then, I was already deep in the woods.
Namrata: Technology is entwined with almost any sector that we might think of today, so yes, I knew that I would be working in technology in some way or another. I am glad that the turn of events in my life have put me at the very core of technology as this keeps me up-close to all of its developments and new innovations.
Lydia: I have been with Dataprise for almost 6 months.
Namrata: I work as a Network Consultant at Dataprise. My typical day would consist of working with different clients on networking projects and troubleshooting issues that arise while finding solutions to fix and resolve these issues.
Namrata: My one piece of advice for women getting into the tech industry would be to constantly strive to learn new things. Technology changes so rapidly that what we know today might be completely irrelevant tomorrow. It is important to stay up to date with the current technological developments and try to use it to your advantage.
Namrata: The thing that I wish I had known was to look for a mentor before starting out with similar interests as mine not just academically and professionally, but also whose ideological and ethical perspectives were in alignment to my own. I think this would have helped me get a clearer picture of what I would become if I continued on the same path as someone who had done this before. Following skill sets can only take you so far, but a vision about what you could become and the thought about what you’d do differently to achieve what you want makes all the difference.
Namrata: I think compared to most of the other industries, women can enjoy almost the same perks as everyone else: be it higher pay, quality work and finding something that you’re passionate about. The tech industry is so dynamic and broad that it would be hard not to find something that you love. If you have the skills, you are entitled to the job same as any other gender!
Namrata: PEOPLE!! I have met some of the most amazing people here. All of them are kind, eager to help and focus on how to have each other’s back. I think I can work anywhere and do the same job that I do here, but I find it very hard to believe that I would get such awesome co-workers!
Namrata: I see myself honing my skills and becoming more adept in cybersecurity along with my networking portfolio.
