Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?
Kenisha: I started with Dataprise in November 2008, so coming up on 10 years! I started when I was just 20 years old, so I was one of the youngest employees Dataprise had at the time. I came from an HVAC company, so this was my first job in IT. Luckily when I joined, I had a lot of support from the leadership team.

Marissa: How has your career path evolved at Dataprise throughout the years?

Kenisha: I started as an Account Manager and after about 4 years in that role, I transferred over to the Global Service Desk. I started there as a Service Desk Coordinator and did that for about two years. I transferred departments because I wanted to learn more about technology and get a better understanding of Dataprise’s capabilities and services. Once I got a good grasp on that, I moved into the Project Coordinator role that I’m in today.

Marissa: How do you feel the different roles you’ve held at Dataprise have helped you be an effective Project Coordinator?
Kenisha: I think it has made me well rounded and given me an understanding of the services we deliver to the client, which has made me more confident. I now fully understand the benefits of the services we sell.

Marissa: What does your day-to-day look like?
Kenisha: I do a little bit of everything! I make sure the Service Desk Engineers submit their time every day, so they can be paid on time. I manage their time off, and I work with a great team of Project Coordinators to manage clients, work on projects with them, and do a lot of tracking, auditing, and reporting.

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?
Kenisha: I really enjoy what I do now; however, I want to learn more about Project Management and the other aspects of my role that I haven’t delved into yet. What’s great is that I know that opportunity is there when I am ready.

Marissa: What would be your advice to women wanting to get in to the technology industry even if they haven’t started out there?
Kenisha: Give it a try – it may not be as hard as you think. Give it your all and do not be afraid to try something new. If you work at Dataprise or are considering a career here, you will definitely get the help and support you need to move your career forward. For example, if you want to go back to school or receive additional training, there is a program here that supports that.
